Solo-performance based on the text of “Capital” by Karl Marx
Video excerpt (Electrotheatre Stanyslavsky)
Idea and composition: Alexey Kokhanov
Electronics: Adam Asnan
Can you sing Karl Marx's "Das Kapital" and if so, how does it sound? In his daring project "Marxophony", Alexey Kokhanov musically approaches the book that everyone knows but very few have read. With the help of his voice, electronic effects and a wink, he frees "Das Kapital" from the myth that has developed around the work, especially in his native Russia. In his performance, Alexey Kokhanov processes disappointment and distrust of Marxism just as much as personal disillusionment in remembering the ideology of the Soviet Union. In the process, a surprising new genre of art emerges somewhere between contemporary song recital, musical theater and experimental reading, for which he is accompanied by Adam Asnan.
